The American Cancer Society National Lung Cancer Roundtable will host its 8th Annual Meeting at the Omni Centennial Park in Atlanta, GA, on December 9-10. Atlanta is known as the “Public Health Capital of the World” and we are taking full advantage of this deep history with our meeting theme, “Advancing Public Health and Health Equity in Lung Cancer.”

Through the ACS NLCRT, we are working to ensure that no one is disadvantaged in their fight against lung cancer because of their socioeconomic status, their race or ethnicity, their sexual orientation, their gender identity, their disability status, their insurance status, or where they live. We thank all the ACS NLCRT organizational members and non-members along with advocates, survivors, and caregivers for joining us in this effort.

Along with a new venue, we are planning several new additions to the program, making the 2024 Annual Meeting the ACS NLCRT’s best conference yet. A draft of the meeting agenda can be viewed below, and will be updated as we get closer to December. Speaker biographies coming soon.

We are honored to feature Chris T. Pernell, MD, MPH, FACPM, and Pasi A. Jänne, MD, PhD, as our two keynote speakers.

Chris T. Pernell, MD, MPH, FACPM, serves as the Director of the NAACP Center for Health Equity. Dr. Chris is a dynamic physician leader and social change agent. In her practice, she focuses on health justice, community-based advocacy, and population-wide health promotion and disease prevention. The Center is charged with driving equitable health outcomes and transforming healthcare systems while valuing the whole person. Prior to joining the nation’s oldest and most venerable civil rights organization, she launched The Esther Group, a public health consulting and health equity strategy firm. As founder of The Esther Group, she lives the mandate to dare a future where organizations, communities and systems can innovate for a better world and humanity.

Director of the Lowe Center for Thoracic Oncology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and professor at Harvard Medical School, Pasi A. Jänne, MD, PhD, will provide a keynote presentation, anchoring a panel session on the current lung cancer treatment landscape. Dr. Jänne was a co-discoverer of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations and has led the development of therapeutic strategies for patients with EGFR-mutant lung cancer. His achievements in translational and clinical research have fundamentally altered the treatment of lung cancer, earning him the 2024 Medal of Honor from the American Cancer Society. It is the ACS’s most prestigious award, bestowed to distinguished individuals or foundations who have made valuable contributions in basic research, cancer control, clinical research, or philanthropy.
