Dr. Carey Thomson is the Charles S. Davidson Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and the Chair of the Department of Medicine at Mount Auburn Hospital/Beth Israel Lahey Health. Dr. Thomson has extensive training and experience in implementation science, quality improvement, and population health. She has a well-established track record of collaborating on work at the national and regional levels to advance early detection of lung cancer. Dr. Thomson founded and directs the Multidisciplinary Thoracic Oncology and Lung Cancer Screening (LCS) Program at Mount Auburn Hospital/Beth Israel Lahey Health. She is the Chair of the National Lung Cancer Roundtable Lung Cancer Early Detection Task Group, is a member of the ACR Lung Cancer Screening 2.0 Committee and several of its subcommittees, and sits on numerous scientific panels and committees at other national organizations. She has developed multiple implementation tools for early detection in collaboration with the ACS NLCRT and the ATS/ALA, including a business modeling tool, LUNGPLAN, the Best Practice Guide for Building Early Detection Programs, and Co-Chaired the ATS/ALA Implementation Guide for Lung Cancer Screening. She leads national efforts to incorporate Artificial Intelligence technology, and the electronic health record into care pathways for early detection of lung cancer.
